The overwhelming message heard during the Scarborough Community Renewal Campaign was about the need to engage the community in a large-scale rebranding exercise that seeks to re-envision and shift the external perceptions of Scarborough. The response from the community was predominantly about positive experiences of living in Scarborough, and that a Scarborough-wide marketing strategy is needed to Renew Scarborough.
Our Communications Committee publishes a monthly newsletter, maintains our website, twitter and Facebook accounts, with the objectives of:
- Promoting the “good news” stories of Scarborough. Our newsletter and website feature stories about Scarborough’s community champions, local organizations that showcase great talents, institutions that create new learning opportunities and give back to the community, planning and development projects, local restaurants and attractions. It also profiles SCRO activities.
- Providing a forum to promote Scarborough events. Our newsletter and website promote Scarborough-wide events to allow organizations to further their reach. It also shares newsletters of other organizations in Scarborough.
- Increasing awareness about activities in Scarborough and by SCRO. We use Twitter and Facebook to raise general awareness about the need to Renew Scarborough and to immediately share news about Scarborough and SCRO.
